Simulation

Gravity

Gravity at 0 (weightless)
Gravity at -9.81 (Earth)

Strength of gravitational pull on all particles. 0 = weightless. Default -9.81 matches Earth. Range -20 to 0. Keyframeable.

Gravity Direction

Gravity Direction at 180° (down)
Gravity Direction at 0° (up)

Angle of the gravity vector. 0° = up, 90° = right, 180° = down (default), 270° = left. Swing it around for orbiting or circular flow effects. Keyframeable.

Grid Resolution

Grid Resolution at 30 (coarse)
Grid Resolution at 200 (fine)

Size of the pressure-solve grid (30 to 200 cells high). Higher = finer detail but slower. Default 60. Bump to 120+ for hero shots.

Particle Distance %

Particle Distance at 100% (dense)
Particle Distance at 500% (sparse)

Spacing between spawned particles (100 to 500%, default 100%). Lower values = more particles, denser fluid, slower. Higher = sparser, faster.

Speed %

Speed at 50% (slow motion)
Speed at 200% (fast forward)

Time-scale multiplier on the simulation (1 to 500%, default 100%). 50% = slow-motion water; 200% = fast-forward. Keyframeable.

Water Height / Water Width

Water at 20% height / 20% width
Water at 100% height / 100% width

Starting volume of fluid as a fraction of the comp (defaults 80% and 60%). The fluid starts as a rectangular column of this size at the bottom. Set both to 0 for "emitter only" setups with no starting water.

Open Boundaries

Open Boundaries off (walls bounce)
Open Boundaries on (edges drain)

When off (default), the comp edges are walls: particles bounce. When on, particles that reach the edge are deleted, as if flowing off-screen. Handy for continuous flows like waterfalls.
